Who You Are

We are seeking a resilient and child-focused individual for the position of Team Manager in Children's Social Work Services. You should be practical and able to balance support with accountability, driving a team towards successful outcomes for children and families. This role requires someone with experience in frontline children's social work, particularly within assessment, Child in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), and Care Proceedings.

What the Job Involves

In this role, you will lead a team responsible for high-quality social work practice, focusing on assessment, CIN, CP, and care proceedings. You'll handle day-to-day team management, ensuring all practices meet quality standards and performance targets, with a focus on protecting children's interests. Responsibilities include direct supervision, managing staff performance, maintaining standards, and cultivating a learning and improvement culture. You will collaborate with senior managers and partner agencies to improve service quality and ensure children remain the central focus in decision-making processes.

Skills

  • Social Work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, Dip SW)
  • Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Experience managing a team in a Social Care environment
  • Understanding of relevant legislation affecting children, young people, and families
  • Excellent communication and partnership-building skills
  • Proactive approach to social care developments
  • Ability to supervise, support, and challenge staff effectively
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Capability to work with partner agencies
